A Christmas message from our Vice Dean, Canon Chris Dench

‘O come let us adore him’, will have been sang thousands of times during these past few weeks.  We are coming to adore the saving and life changing love of God. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ in the face of a baby in a manger. So, is it true? As John Betjeman asks in his poem ‘Christmas’:

And is it true? And is it true,

This most tremendous tale of all,

Seen in a stained-glass window’s hue,

A baby in an ox’s stall?

The Maker of the stars and sea,

Become a Child on earth for me?

It is true and you can make it true.  When you remove the trappings, you will discover the real meaning of Christmas, that God sent His Son into the world, so that we might have life and life in all its fullness. So, wherever you are in the world this Christmastide, we wish you a happy, holy, and peaceful Christmas.
