Billy Childish and the Chatham Singers
Billy Childish is performing at Rochester Cathedral with ‘The Chatham Singers.’ Specialising in blues and country music they have release three albums in 2006, 2009 and 2020. The most recent album, Kings of the Medway Delta, featured gritty Chess Studio style blues with Billy on lead vocal.
The Chatham Singers are Billy Childish – Vox / Guitar Nurse Julie – Vox / Bass Wolf Howard – Drums and & ‘Bludy’ Jim on Harp.
About Billy Childish
Billy Childish is an international acclaimed painter, musician and author. He was born in Chatham and lives locally. Billy has recorded over 125 LP’s over his 37 year career. As a visual artist he is recognised as a champion of figurative painting with his work exhibited internationally and housed in major collections around the world.
His music is best described as ‘homemade punk rock, blues and rock ‘n’roll’. He has been involved in multiple bands with his music championed by artists including Kurt Cobain, Beck, Jack White and even Kylie Minogue.
This is the first time Billy has performed at Rochester Cathedral and we are thrilled to have him as part of the first ‘Rochester Cathedral Jazz and Blues Festival’.
