National Day of Reflection marking the 2nd anniversary of the first of the Covid Lockdowns.
On Wednesday March 23rd at 5.30 pm Rochester Cathedral will hold a reflective service with Taize Music to mark the second anniversary of the beginning of a dark and difficult time in our national and local life. With various stages and tiers of lockdown affecting Kent and Medway, much suffering and grief, and thousands of deaths, there is much to contemplate and hold before God in sorrow and prayer; and much to give thanks for, as restrictions are easier and vaccinations effective. The cathedral will be open all day for prayer and Chaplains available. As always there will be an opportunity to light candles and remember loved ones.
Do join us if you wish, and take time to reflect on the past and look to the future in faith, hope and love.
Canon Dr Gordon Giles, the Canon Chancellor said: ‘The last two years have been a strange and challenging time, in which a wide range of experiences, attitudes, reactions and feelings have both troubled and inspired us. Covid is not over, and there are other challenges on the world stage to contend with too. But we cannot - and should not - simply move on. Now is a time to pause, take stock, to renew our trust in God and to continue to love our neighbours in all circumstances‘.
All are welcome to attend the service. The Cathedral continues to invite those who come to wear face masks for the sake of others’ health and well-being.
