As part of the Cathedral's commemoration of the ending of WWI in 1918, Rochester Choral Society will be joined by the City of Rochester Symphony Orchestra and other singers from Kent for a performance of Britten's War Requiem which features poems by Wilfred Owen and words from the Missa pro Defunctis. The work is a very demanding piece for the participants and soloists (soprano, tenor and bass) and was first performed in Coventry Cathedral, newly consecrated in 1962 after the destruction of the first one during WWII.
