Did you know that the word Advent comes from the Latin word “adventus” which means “arrival” or “coming”?
Advent is the four weeks leading up to Christmas and officially starts not on 1st December, but on the Sunday nearest to the feast day of St Andrew the apostle (he was one of Jesus’ disciples).
As we journey through advent we’ll be discovering the symbolism behind lots of things linked to Christmas.
